This nostalgic little ogre is the perfect quick and no-sew pattern! The pattern features a small amount of color work to create the vest. This is a great first project if you're new to color work!
I made my ogres with Parfait Chunky. For the greens I used the colors Goblin and Key Lime (pictured), but I prefer the look of Goblin green just a little bit better.

Materials
-Premier “Parfait Chunky” super bulky weight #6 yarn [100% polyester, 131 yards/ 120 m per 100g skein]; colors: Goblin (Green), Espresso (Dark Brown), Acorn (Brown), Mushroom (Cream)
-US size 7 (4.5 mm) crochet hook
-(2) 16mm safety eyes
-Polyfill
-Scissors
-Stitch marker
-Tapestry needle
Pattern Notes
-This pattern is written in US terms and Imperial measurements.
-Body of pattern is worked from the bottom up.
-Pattern is worked in continuous rounds without joining unless otherwise stated.
-Use a stitch marker to mark the beginning of round. Move the marker up each round.
Change Color: to change color, insert hook into stitch and pull up a loop, complete stitch by pulling new color through both loops on hook.

Special Stitches
Invisible Decrease (inv dec): [Insert your hook into the front loop of the next two stitches and pull up a loop, yarn over and pull through both loops on hook.
Pattern Instructions
Arms (Make 2)
With (Green),
Round 1 - sc 8 in a magic ring (8)
Round 2 - sc around (8)
In last st of Round 2, change color to (Cream)
Round 3 - [sc 2, inv dec] 2 times (6)
Stuff lightly up to Round 2. Do not stuff after this point
Rounds 4-5 - sc around (6) (2 rounds)
Pinch both sides together and sc 3 to close. FO, leaving a 5 in (13 cm) tail. Arms are now ready to be crocheted on.
Ears (make 2)
With (Green),
Round 1 - sc 8 in a magic ring (8)
Round 2 - [inc] 8 times (16)
Fold ear in half, sc 2 through both sides. FO, leaving a 5 in (13 cm) tail. Ears are now ready to be crocheted on.
Body
With (Dark Brown),
Round 1 - sc 8 in a magic ring (8)
Round 2 - [inc] 8 times (16)
Round 3 - [sc 1, inc] 8 times (24)
Place a stitch marker in the first BLO of Round 3 to indicate where Round 5 will be worked
Round 4 - FLO slst around (24)
Round 5 is worked into the BLO of Round 3 where stitch marker was placed.
Round 5 - sc around (24)
In last stitch of Round 5, change color to (Brown)
Rounds 6-7 - sc around (2 rounds)
In last stitch of Round 7, change color to (Cream)
FO (Brown)
Round 8 - sc around (24)
In last stitch of Round 8, change color to (Dark Brown).
Instructions for Rounds 9-10 will indicate where to change colors to work the vest.
Round 9 - Dark Brown: sc 10, Cream: sc 4, Dark Brown: sc 10 (24)
Arms will be attached in Round 10
Round 10 - Dark Brown: sc 5, arm: sc 3, sc 3, Cream: sc 2, Dark Brown: sc 3, arm: sc 3, sc 5 (24)
FO (Cream)
Round 11 - [inv dec] 12 times (12)
In last stitch of Round 11, change color to (Green)
Begin stuffing body
FO (Dark Brown)
Round 12 - [inc] 12 times (24)
Round 13 - [sc 3, inc] 6 times (30)
Rounds 14-15 - sc around (30) (2 rounds)
Continue stuffing body
Round 16-17 - sc around (30) (2 rounds)
Ears will be attached in Round 18
Round 18 - sc 10, ear: sc 2, sc 13, ear: sc 2, sc 3 (30)
Attach safety eyes between Rounds 16-17, (6) sts apart and centered with vest color changes
Round 19 - [sc 3, inv dec] 6 times (24)
Begin stuffing head
Round 20 - [sc 2, inv dec] 6 times (18)
Round 21 - [sc 1, inv dec] 6 times (12)
Round 22 - [inv dec] 6 times
Finish stuffing and FO, leaving a 20 in (50 cm) tail. To close hole, using tapestry needle and tail, insert needle into FLO of each stitch of round 22. Pull tail to close.
Use remaining tail to tack ears in an upright position if desired. Continue on to nose detail.
Nose Detail
With (Green) and tapestry needle, embroider nose detail between the eyes. Repeat 3-4 times. Weave in ends.
