No-Sew Acorn Free Crochet Pattern

If you're looking for a quick and cute acorn pattern, you're in the right place! This pattern works up in just about an hour and makes for the perfect fall plush.


Materials 

-Premier “Parfait Chunky” super bulky weight #6 yarn [100% polyester, 131 yards/ 120 m per 100g skein]; Teddy Bear (Dark Brown), Almond Butter (Light Brown) 

-US size 7 (4.5 mm) crochet hook

-(2) 12mm safety eyes

-Polyfill

-Scissors

-Stitch marker

-Tapestry needle

 

Pattern Notes

-This pattern is written in US terms and Imperial measurements.

-Body of pattern is worked from the top-down.

-Pattern is worked in continuous rounds without joining unless otherwise stated.

-Use a stitch marker to mark the beginning of round. Move the marker up each round.

Change Color: to change color, insert hook into stitch and pull up a loop, complete stitch by pulling new color through both loops on hook.

 

Abbreviations

[ ] – Repeat

ch – chain

flo - front loop only

FO - Fasten Off

inc – 2 sc in same stitch

sc – single crochet 

st(s) – stitch(es)  

sl st – slip stitch 


Special Stitches 

Invisible Decrease (inv dec): [Insert your hook into the front loop of the next two stitches and pull up a loop,  yarn over and pull through both loops on the hook.


Pattern Instructions

Legs (make 2)

With (Light Brown),

Round 1 - sc 7 in a magic ring (7)

Round 2 - sc 1, [inc] 5 times, sc 1 (12)

Round 3 - sc 4, [inc] 4 times, sc 4 (16)

Round 4 - sc around (16)      

Round 5 - sc 4, [inv dec] 4 times, sc 4 (12)                                      

Round 6 - sc 2, [inv dec] 4 times, sc 2 (8)

Stuff foot. Do not stuff after this point   

Round 7 - sc 2, [inv dec] 2 times, sc 2 (6)

Place 1 extra sc to reach the side of the foot. Pinch both sides together and sc 3 across, working through both sides. FO, leaving a short tail. Legs are now ready to be crocheted on to body.


Body 

With (Dark Brown),

Round 1 - sc 6 in a magic ring (6)

Rounds 2-4 - sc around (6) (3 rounds)

Round 5 - [inc] 6 times (12)

Round 6 - [sc 1, inc] 6 times (18)

Round 7 - [sc 2, inc] 6 times (24)

Round 8 - [sc 3, inc] 6 times (30)

Round 9 - [sc 4, inc] 6 times (36)

Rounds 10-11 - sc around (36) (2 rounds)

Round 12 - [sc 2, inv dec] 9 times (27)

In the last stitch of Round 12, change color to (Light Brown)

Round 13 - In the flo: [sc 2, inc] 9 times (36)

Rounds 14-20 - sc around (36) (7 rounds)

Round 21 - [sc 4, inv dec] 6 times (30)

Round 22 - [sc 3, inv dec] 2 times, [attach foot with 3 sc], inv dec, sc 3, inv dec, [attach foot with 3 sc], inv dec, sc 3, inv dec (24)

Secure eyes between rounds 14-15, (5) visible sts apart. Begin stuffing

Round 23 - [sc 2, inv dec] 6 times (18)

Finish stuffing 

Round 24 - [sc 1, inv dec] 6 times (12)

Round 25 - [inv dec] 6 times (6)

FO, leaving an 8 in (20 cm) tail for closing. To close hole, using tapestry needle and tail, insert needle into FLO of each stitch of round 25. Pull tail to close, weave in ends. 

  • If you’d like to secure the legs against the acorn body, use remaining ends and stitch leg against the body
